Best FIFA 16 Players Review

MANUEL NEUER

Even though De Gea received excellent stats on the most important attributes for the role, the German goalie continues to be the best one in the game. He hasn’t suffered any significant changes, therefore the title of best goalkeeper in the game remains still.

DE GEA

The “almost” Real Madrid goalkeeper is very popular among the FUT community. Despite the Reds’ bad last season, the Spanish goalkeeper’s good appearances earned him a rating upgrade along with better reflexes, handling, speed and positioning. His jumping stayed the same and kicking lost one point. With this he’ll surely get even more popular. And to think you “almost” got to use him in a BBVA squad…

COURTOIS

Winning the EPL and the Capital One Cup with Chelsea last season had zero influence on the Belgium goalkeeper’s new card. Ctrl c + Ctrl v for him! As it seems we’ll see a battle between him and De Gea one more time for a spot in the BPL squad.

PETR CECH

After an entire season on the bench, the BPL veteran packed his bags to defend a different English club this season. His new card kept the same old 85 rating, plus the same basic attributes from FUT 15. Weird to say the least, since, as I said before, Courtois gave him no chance to perform, and the lack of appearances would be a plausible justification for a downgrade on both his overall rating and basic stats.

THIAGO SILVA

The former Brazilian national team captain is no longer the best centre back in the game. With his recent appearances, the few downgrades he received were expected, but then his rating, dribbling and passing were improved. For people who like building Ligue 1 or PSG squads, using the Brazilian double with high work rate for attacking can be quite risky.

BOATENG

As it seems, getting beaten by Messi in the UCL like that didn’t put him down for the next season. The German centre back received good upgrades, mainly on his defending attribute, although he lost one star for skill moves. He’ll continue to be an excellent option for hybrid and Bundesliga squads.

SERGIO RAMOS

Although the last season won’t leave him the best of memories, EA was kind enough to give him one more physicality point. With high work rate for attacking, his partner should have high for defending, otherwise we’ll see the same situation as the Brazilians’ at PSG.

CHIELLINI

After an outstanding season, the Italian centre back goes against the rule of age versus performance. With his low attacking work rate, he’ll contribute defensively even more. If you like using hybrid squads, I surely advise you to get this player. If it’s a Serie A squad he should be one of your first acquisitions, since he’s fast and presents stats above average (defeding and physicality, the main ones for a centre back). Chiellini had his card completely renewed for this season. He hasn’t got as much popularity as most of the top 50 rated players, but if you’re still wondering, here it is: -Yes, he is the best centre back in the game!

HUMMELS

Once again, a mystery. Upgrade on overall rating and downgrades on pace, dribbling, shooting, passing and physicality. Could it be that popularity has been dragging Borussia’s defender down? Try and answer that one!

PIQUÉ

Having an effective contribution on Barcelona’s treble last season, the Spanish centre back didn’t face any major alterations. Although he gained one rating point, he lost two points on both pace and passing. Once again, it’s hard to understand EA.

NALDO

Having earned two IF’s in the 14-15 season plus a Bundesliga TOTS, these upgrades on rating, dribbling, defending, passing, physicality and shooting (the last one outstantingly) were expected for the Brazilian centre back. Despite all that, Naldo still lacks good physicality and has high work rate for attacking, which isn’t a very good thing. Apart from that, he’s a great option.

TERRY

Is there a limit for pace in this game? If there is, Terry must have hit it. The Blues’ captain received upgrades on every essential attribute for the position, although they were slight increases. In FUT15 it would be crazy to use him against pace abusers, but I did. And the result? What a beast! Of course, if you know how to use the full-backs and the partner’s speed.

GODÍN

The pace increase was a bit surprising for me, but that’s about it. The Uruguayan can lead Atlético Madrid’s defence, however, I don’t really see why he’d be among the best. Go on, prove me wrong!

KOMPANY

Pace is no longer the Sky Blue centre back’s remarkable characteristic. This way he isn’t as versatile as before, so you can forget about sprinting through the opposition with him. Despite all the downgrades, he should continue being popular and used by many FUT fans.

ALABA

The one and only full back present among the top 50. Maybe the fact that Alaba received quite a good upgrade on his defending attribute has to do with all the speculation on a potential position change to CB. His spot is guaranteed on the Bundesliga starting eleven.

CRISTIANO RONALDO

Not one of the best seasons by Ronaldo, but it depends on the point of view. The club’s performance didn’t result in any titles, but individually you can’t say the Portuguese doesn’t deserve an amazing card, one worthy of tough concurrence against Messi.

HAZARD

Come on, EA, it just can’t be… No upgrade on Harzard’s shooting?!

NEYMAR

Take a deep breath and keep away from any breakable objects around you. That’s pretty much it. Neymar has been trolled by EA.

RIBÉRY

EA’s scout must’ve paid close attention to him. That’s right, no forgiveness for any of the basic attributes. Total downgrade. Watch out, Ribéry! It was just a slight, basic downgrade, so the French is still a great alternative for assists.

SÁNCHEZ

Having earned 3 IF cards, 1 MOTM and 1 BPL TOTS, the Chilean gunner was one of the main players from last season. His excellent appearances earned him a few alterations. Alexis will play on the left midfield on FUT 16. The downgrades were still a bit questionable, though, given that he played very well for both his club and national team. I’d choose an upgrade on pace and shooting over rating. What about you? With high work rate for defending he’ll offer excellent counter attack options through the wings. In case you’re already thinking of the ideal BPL squad on FUT 16, here’s Hazard’s immediate substitute. Agree on that?

REUS

The man for the role on Bundesliga squads has faced two relevant alterations on his card. One, nice defending upgrade. Two, work rates. It’s a shame that he received just medium for attacking. You might see a performance change, especially if you like using him exclusively to attack. But still, his stats remain great for the position. I wouldn’t think of buying Ribéry over him.

MESSI

A moment of silence. Here it is, the best attacking trio made of regular cards is complete. CSM for the La Liga. His position change wasn’t the only news. M10 earned one more star for his weak foot, which means that if he already wasn’t used to miss, imagine now. Only defending faced significant changes. Featuring a new rating, EA’s cover boy is the leader of overalls. CR7 or M10? Who fits your style? Does someone doubt the Argentinian will get his fifth Ballon D’Or?

ROBBEN

The Dutch didn’t suffer any major alterations on his card and continues to be the best on the Bundesliga right midfield position. Despite his advanced age in terms of football (I think it’s really the opposite), Robben keeps on being one of the main players for any top FUT squad.

BALE

The first to go straight to the bench in the best BBVA squad possible. With Messi changing to RM, here it is, the second best La Liga attack line: NBB! Can you even see any difference on Bale’s new card?

SILVA

De Bruyne would surely be the best for the position on FUT16 BPL squads, but now Silva gets another position change and shows off excellent attributes for the role (passing and dribbling), so let’s call it a day, or some days after FUT16 starts to decide who is the best. Popularity will be a cruel opponent for City’s midfielder against the young Belgian.

INIESTA

The new/old Barça captain should also be disappointed with the downgrades on his dribbling and passing. I think EA’s scout for Barcelona players this year might support Real Madrid. They win the treble and this is what they get? What do you think about that?

LAHM

With his attacking work rate changing to medium, we can count on the German to reinforce our team’s first defence line. If you still had some hope left to see Lahm as a right-back, forget it. The only chance you have involves spending maybe millions of coins on a potential special card, such as what happened last year. Anyway, expect to see Piszczek a lot!

JAMES

A significant shooting upgrade, indeed. This is what’s up for the Colombian. But then I ask you: -What about Neymar? Didn’t he deserve at least three more shooting points?

KROOS

TK8 is commonly contested for his slowness on the pitch, and that’s why people don’t usually choose him for their team. His new card received a significant defending upgrade. Great option for you if your style involves a lot of passing and long distance shooting.

FÀBREGAS

Having contributed well for the Blues last season, the Spanish didn’t suffer any major changes on his card and keeps on being one of the best passers of the game.

OZIL

Only downgrades on basic attributes leading to an overall rating upgrade. Has anyone solved this puzzle yet? Looking at his passing and dribbling, the main attributes for this position, the German will have a spot somewhere in the BPL 22. But relying on popularity inside the FUT community, Ozil is far from making it.

MÓDRIC

Important player for Real Madrid’s overall performance. Injuries were the Croatian’s worst enemy last season. No significant changes, though, pretty much a copy and paste in disguise. He’ll still make it to the top BBVA squad no problem.

DE BRUYNE

Now that City have unloaded their money truck, finally the Belgian will be able to show his talent in the BPL. Although the main attributes for the position are a bit lower on his card than on Silva’s, KDB17 will be used by many because of the popularity he built in the Bundesliga. Due to his great appearances at Wolfsburg, De Bruyne earned several special cards on FUT15, and therefore well-deserved upgrades on his regular card for FUT16.

BUSQUETS

Maybe he’s the least popular player among all 50, however, he still has an important role on Barça’s performance. You could say he’s among the main defensive midfielders of the BBVA. Simple and effective.

POGBA

If he had been transferred, De Bruyne wouldn’t be at the top of the transfer market right now. The French is one of the most popular players in the game. His excellent appearances for Juventus earned him kit number 10 and upgrades on most of his basic attributes. Don’t fool yourself thinking he’s slow with less than 80 of pace, his long strides make him look faster than what the numbers say. Would you have enjoyed playing with him in the BPL?

VIDAL

The balance seen on the Chilean’s basic attributes, now a Bayern player, make him undoubtedly one of the best players for the position. Vidal is practically mandatory for Bundesliga squads this season.

TOURÉ

It looks like Yaya’s dominance over the BPL midfield is on its way to end. Downgrades on rating, defending (don’t look so scared) and physicality and upgrade on shooting. To get things worse, his work rate for defending changed to low. They decided demystify the Ivorian. Watch out, YT42! You might become a non-rare sooner than you thought.

SCHWEINSTEIGER

Schweinsteiger must have had the same scout as Touré’s. Downgrades on rating, shooting, defending, physicality, dribbling, passing and pace (the last one, horrifically). Changing clubs, so far, apparently wasn’t the best decision for the 2014 world champion. We shall see!

CAZORLA

Another Spanish player from the BPL that suffered a position change. The fact is that right now we have several good options for the BPL midfield. It seems to me that Cazorla has been doing some career mode attribute training lately. Quite an upgrade. See it for yourself.

DI MARIA

SUÁREZ

Member of the CSM trio for the BBVA, the Uruguayan killed it for Barça last season. This season he hasn’t faced any relevant changes and remains deadly up front.

IBRAHIMOVIC

If you’ve ever had IBRA10 up front you know that when he’s there defenders don’t exist. Despite all the transfer speculations, the fighter (that’s right, striker and fighter) keeps on being a nightmare for the opposition. Don’t hesitate to buy him when you get the chance.

AGUERO

LEWANDOWSKI

What do you mean, EA? I can understand one less star for skills, but medium for attacking? Not fair! His scout must have been a BVB 09 fan looking for revenge. Such a shame.

TÉVEZ

Tevez will be missed on the Italian pitch. He is the only player playing outside of Europe with such an expressive overall rating. Using him alongside Messi on the right, Lavezzi on the left and Di Maria in the midfield will be quite a hybrid. Have you thought about it? Despite his advanced age, the Argentinian only gets better. His loyalty destroyed my plans to build a mega Serie A squad. Come on, Carlitos!

DIEGO COSTA

The eternal solution for my ideal Brazilian attack line didn’t do very well on his new card. Only downgrades for the Spanish-ish. The first option that comes after Aguero in the BPL.

BENZEMA

THOMAS MULLER

He was Robben’s substitute for the main Bundesliga and Bayern squads last season. Two ST IF’s and one CF Bundesliga TOTS on FUT15; that plus the changes established by Guardiola indicated a position change for Muller. Downgrades for pace, dribbling and passing, this way the German will probably hit the bench. With De Bruyne leaving to City, his only chance will be the Bundesliga midfield. H/H work rates is a start.

ROONEY

The eternal FIFA bad boy had his attacking work rate changed to medium for FUT16. Which means he won’t be attacking all the time anymore. I reckon you should use him in the midfield or in some formation where he only has to finish the ball. What about you, what do you think?
